Hello everyone, and welcome to my website!

My name is Sean McQuillan. I am from Long Island, New York, and chose Pitt to pursue my dreams of working in the sports and live news broadcasting industry.

I’ve been calling games since I was five, muting the TV to do my own play-by-play, whether it was a live sporting event or a game of Madden with my father and little brother. That early curiosity grew into a passion for sports media and storytelling.

During my first high school broadcast shoot, I quite literally fell off a ladder. Instead of discouraging me, it made me want to climb back up. After years of working to regain that footing, I reached a point where I thought I had finally arrived—only to be told “no,” “you aren’t ready,” and “you’re not good enough.”

That moment became another fall, but also a turning point. Rather than taking a single path, I chose to broaden my perspective—exploring every corner of sports media, from broadcast and production to journalism, radio, and digital. Each new discipline became another step toward climbing back with more range, resilience, and understanding.

I’m currently a junior pursuing a B.A. in Media and Professional Communications at the University of Pittsburgh, with certificates in Television & Broadcast Arts and Sports Studies, while gaining hands-on experience across multiple platforms.

I now serve as a Studio Content & Production Intern with SportsNet New York (SNY), contributing to live professional sports broadcasts and digital content in a top-tier media market.
